Aquamarine is a blue to blue-green variety of the mineral beryl, the same family that includes emerald and morganite. Namibian aquamarine is celebrated for its vibrant hues, and naturally clean crystal formations. The Erongo region is famous for these aquamarine with black tourmaline combination pieces, which create a unique contrast between two visually distinctive minerals. Black tourmaline, scientifically known as schorl, is distinguished by its opaque black coloration, caused by a high concentration of iron in its crystal structure.
