Red zircon is a beautiful and relatively rare variety of the mineral zircon, a zirconium silicate with the chemical formula ZrSiO₄. While zircon is commonly found in many colors (yellow, brown, green, blue), red zircon is especially prized for its rich, fiery color and gem-quality clarity. Under short-wave ultraviolet light, these zircons exhibit a yellow fluorescence.
