Green chlorite quartz specimens from Pakistan have a distinctive appearance as a result of the interplay between transparent quartz and chlorite inclusions. The green phantoms in these crystals resulted from inclusions of chlorite that became trapped during the growth period of the quartz. What makes this piece remarkable, is the presence of perfectly formed, dark grey Anatase crystals on the quartz. Anatase is a tetragonal mineral form of titanium dioxide, typically found in hydrothermal veins, alpine clefts, and weathered igneous or metamorphic rocks. Anatase is a polymorph of rutile and brookite, meaning all three share the same chemical composition but differ in crystal structure and stability.
