Aquamarine is a blue to blue-green variety of the mineral beryl, cherished for its serene color and well formed crystals. Its name comes from the Latin aqua marina, meaning “water of the sea,” a reflection of its tranquil, ocean-like hues. Formed in granitic pegmatites, aquamarine owes its color to traces of iron within its crystal structure. It is a durable gemstone with a hardness of 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale. Pakistani aquamarine is frequently associated with muscovite mica and albite feldspar. The delicate silver shimmer of muscovite and the clean, white platy crystals of albite create a beautiful contrast against the blue of aquamarine, enhancing its aesthetics.
