“Firefly” Petroleum Quartz is a striking variety of quartz mined in Madagascar. It is notable for its petroleum inclusions that appear golden or amber in natural light, but which become vivid under ultraviolet illumination- often glowing an intense yellow under both shortwave and longwave UV. The quartz crystals often show elaborate crystal habits: skeletal and elestial growths, scepters, sometimes double-terminated forms, and even windowed faces.
