Kidwellite from Arkansas is a rare iron phosphate mineral that typically forms in the oxidized zones of phosphate-rich, iron-bearing deposits. It was first described from the Silver Hill Mine in Pulaski County, making Arkansas the type locality. Kidwellite commonly occurs as fibrous to botryoidal aggregates with a yellow-green to olive-green color and a silky to dull luster. It is often found in association with minerals such as rockbridgeite, strengite, and wavellite. The formation of kidwellite reflects secondary mineralization processes under oxidizing, low-temperature conditions, and its presence in Arkansas highlights the region’s complex phosphate mineralogy. Specimens are of interest to collectors due to both their rarity and type-locality significance.
