Rossmanite is a rare member of the tourmaline group, specifically part of the elbaite subgroup, and is distinguished by its iron-poor and lithium-rich composition. It is characterized by vibrant pink hues and slight translucency. Due to its rarity and specific composition, Rossmanite is of high interest to mineralogists. The Tanco Mine is one of the very few proven finds of this tourmaline species.
