Sturmanite is a rare calcium–iron–manganese boro-silicate sulfate mineral first described in 1981 and named after South African mineralogist Daniel Sturman. It is typically found in the Kalahari Manganese Field of South Africa, most famously at the Wessels and N’Chwaning Mines in the Northern Cape. Sturmanite forms in well-crystallized hexagonal prisms, often with a bright yellow to brownish-yellow color and a vitreous to resinous luster.
