Variscite is a rare phosphate mineral known for its vibrant green color. It is valued both for its unique appearance and its relative rarity, especially in gem and mineral collections. The mineral is named after the Variscia region of Germany, where it was first discovered, but significant deposits are also found in Utah, USA. While variscite is relatively soft, it is often cut into cabochons and used in jewelry.
