Pink fluorite from the Zillertal Alps is formed in high-altitude alpine fissures, similar to the renowned pink fluorites of Switzerland. Rather than coming from large commercial mines, these crystals are typically recovered through small-scale, episodic finds by alpine mineral collectors working narrow veins and clefts in remote, rugged terrain. This style of “strahler” collecting, common throughout the Alps, contributes to the rarity and desirability of Austrian pink fluorite among collectors.
