Brazilianite is a striking phosphate mineral best known for its rich, golden-yellow to greenish-yellow hues and its remarkable transparency and brilliance when well formed. First described from the Brazilian pegmatites of Minas Gerais, this sodium aluminum phosphate hydroxide (NaAl₃(PO₄)₂(OH)₄) typically occurs as prismatic or tabular crystals with a monoclinic structure, often exhibiting excellent terminations and a vitreous to slightly pearly luster. Its vivid color, clarity, and often large crystal size make it highly sought after both by mineral collectors and, occasionally, as a gemstone.
