Tsumeb Mine in Namibia is renowned for producing some of the world's finest smithsonite specimens, with an exceptional diversity of colours, crystal habits, and mineral associations. This unusual specimen features the relatively rare rice-grain habit, consisting of distinctive elongated, rounded crystals with a lustrous, often silky surface. Adding to its appeal are tiny yellow speckles of mimetite scattered throughout the smithsonite, along with several small clusters of botryoidal malachite. The combination of three visually distinct mineral species, together with the uncommon crystal habit, gives this specimen a particularly interesting and highly individual appearance. An unusual and characterful example of the remarkable mineral diversity for which Tsumeb is so celebrated.
