Orange grossular garnet is a calcium-aluminum silicate mineral from the garnet group, known for its vibrant orange to golden hues caused by trace elements such as iron or manganese. It forms in contact metamorphic environments, particularly in calcium-rich rocks like limestone or skarn. This specimen from Mexico has been mounted in a skarn matrix, creating a nice contrast between the two colors.
