Langite from Ireland is a rare and attractive copper sulfate hydroxide mineral typically recognized for its soft, sky-blue to turquoise coloration and silky, fibrous to platy crystal habit. It most commonly forms as delicate crusts or radiating aggregates in the oxidized zones of copper-bearing sulfide deposits, often associated with minerals such as brochantite, malachite, and azurite. Irish occurrences are not among the world’s most prolific, which makes specimens from this region especially interesting to collectors when they do appear, as they often show well-developed microcrystalline coatings with a subtle pearly or silky sheen.
