Some specimens have little specks of metallic pyrite shimmering throughout the matrix. Lazurite is the main mineral that contributes to lapis lazuli’s iconic deep-blue hue. Specimens from Afghanistan, especially the Sar-e-Sang mines in Badakhshan Province, are renowned for their high color saturation, well-formed crystals, and aesthetic formations.
