Okorusu fluorite from Namibia is renowned for its exceptional crystal quality, vivid coloration, and distinctive internal zoning. It commonly forms sharp, well-developed cubic to cuboctahedral crystals, often occurring in attractive clusters and intergrowths with excellent luster and translucency. Colors are remarkably diverse, ranging from vivid green and blue to purple, yellow, and colorless, with striking combinations of contrasting colors frequently occurring within the same crystal. Internal color zoning and phantom patterns are particularly characteristic of Okorusu fluorite, sometimes producing geometric bands and sharply defined zones of green, blue, purple, or yellow. The deposit is associated with carbonatitic fluids, and fluorite may occur with minerals including quartz, calcite, and fluorapatite. The Okorusu Mine is regarded as a world-renowned fluorite locality, having produced exceptionally large, colorful, and highly collectible specimens prized for their sharp crystal forms, vivid colors, and distinctive zoning.
