Green chlorite phantom quartz from Madagascar is a striking variety of quartz distinguished by its soft, mossy inclusions that form ghost-like outlines of earlier crystal growth. These “phantoms” appear as delicate green layers or triangular silhouettes suspended within the clear quartz, created when chlorite briefly coated the crystal during pauses in its formation before quartz growth resumed. The specimens are further enhanced by a dusting or coating of hematite on the outer surfaces, introducing warm red to rusty tones that create a beautiful contrast against the cool greens within.
