Wulfenite from the historic Mežica Mines in Slovenia, identified as Yugoslavia on the original label, reflecting the country's former political designation prior to Slovenia's independence in 1991. Mežica is a renowned European locality for wulfenite, particularly noted for its unusual variety of crystal habits. This specimen features distinctive flat, rectangular tabular crystals with finely developed vertical ridges and complex stepped terminations along their upper surfaces, creating an unusual architectural appearance. Wulfenite from this locality is also known for its bipyramidal and pyramidal forms, alongside the more familiar thin tabular crystals. The combination of its unusual crystallographic development and historic locality makes this an interesting example of classic Slovenian wulfenite.
